About Victor
For the first seven years as a technical editor at ALLDATA, I managed the Toyota, Lexus, Scion and Mazda databases. When an opportunity to join the ALLDATA Automotive Diagnostic Team arose, I jumped at the chance.
So, what career events brought me to this point?
My family has always been involved in the auto industry. My dad ran a garage in the 40s and 50s. He loved racing midget cars and my mother would calculate the geometry to set-up his suspensions. I remember sitting on his lap during test drives around the neighborhood. Naturally, our dinner conversations revolved around high-performance tuning and the latest “go-fast” parts.
In 1976, I got my first job as a parts counterman while taking courses at the local college. I studied physics, mathematics, marketing and automotive technology. During this time, I also worked at a performance shop installing their custom-built turbochargers and ignition systems.
I decided to test my skills against the best technicians in the country at the 1979 Skills USA Automotive competitions. I won a gold medal at the regional contest, earned a gold medal at the California state championships then placed sixth at the national championships.
In 1982, I opened my shop and outfitted it with the latest in tools and equipment. We were able to diagnose, repair and service all makes and models. We were also a certified California Smog inspection and repair facility. After 25 successful, challenging and rewarding years, I decided to sell the business and put my years of experience to work at ALLDATA.
I have been married to my charming wife, Denise for 28 years. She’s the love of my life and we have raised two beautiful children. We like to spend most of our leisure time hiking and kayaking with our two dogs in tow.
As a member of the ALLDATA Automotive Diagnostic team, I’m excited to use my knowledge and skills to create a better understanding of automotive diagnostics and help techs fix vehicles faster and more accurately.
