My passion for diagnostics began at a young age, figuring out puzzles and taking various toys apart and putting them back together. I grew up in the age where computers were new and cars were just starting to use them.
During high school, I excelled at both auto shop and computer theory. I served in the Marine Corps until being Honorably Discharged in 2000. Afterwards, I returned to doing what I did best – working on cars. Something I noticed immediately was that computer systems had become more commonplace in vehicles and I was anxious to learn as much as I could about them.
Striving to understand vehicle diagnostics better, I attended Universal Technical Institute in Orlando, Florida while still working in various independent automotive repair shops and raising a family. It was a lot of work but, upon completing my certification, I landed a job as a Diesel Diagnostics and Repair Tech at a Ford dealership. For several years, I enjoyed uncovering and repairing the more difficult diagnostic problems but eventually returned to independent repair shops to expand my skills beyond Ford Diesels.
I began my ALLDATA career as a Library Research Specialist in 2014, working often with the Tech-Assist team until joining that department in 2017. In addition to my research job in the library, I helped write the training manuals for that department.
I am constantly researching automotive trends and new integrated system theories to better understand and diagnose problems. I am also on the ALLDATA workplace Health, Safety and Wellness committee; an extracurricular role I thoroughly enjoy.
Outside of ALLDATA, I am a member of a nonprofit historical reenactment group known as the “Society for Creative Anachronism” (SCA) and father of two.
