About Jason
I began my automotive career in 1992, enrolling in the GMASEP program and graduating in 1994. I worked in various GM dealerships for over 16 years as an electrical and drivability technician before going to work as an electrical consultant at the General Motors Technical Assistance Center (TAC) in Saginaw, Michigan.
Working at TAC was an eye-opening experience; before I started working there, I thought I was a decent technician. One thing you learn early as an OEM consultant is that there is way more information out there than one person can remember.
Fortunately, I learned that knowing where to find the information you need is much easier than trying to remember everything. One thing I didn’t need to research was how cold it gets in Michigan and returned to Alabama in 2015 to teach as a General Automotive instructor at a community college in a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama.
I am excited by the opportunity to be working on the Tech-Assist team and the challenges that lay ahead. Although a “GM guy” for most of my career, I am interested in learning other makes and models to turn me into a truly well rounded automotive technician/consultant.
In my spare time I enjoy reading and walking for weight loss with an eventual goal to start running again. I also have a goal in the next two years of completing a marathon to raise money for Alzheimer`s research, something my family and I have unfortunately become intimately associated with.
Starting in the fall of 2019, my plans include to beginning my PH.D. studies at Purdue University, where I will focus on the operation and diagnosis of automotive communication networks.
