Tips for Using the Search and Filter Options

When viewing list of records:

  • If the Filter By field is available it allows you to adjust the type of records displayed.

    • Example: In the Customers list, filtering by Business causes only business customers to display.

    • When you select a Filter By criteria, the status bar at the bottom shows the status as Done when the filtering is complete, as well as the number of filtered records that are displayed.

  • In the Search By drop-down field, choose which type of information to search for.

    • The search results will sort by this type of information in ascending (first to last) order.

  • In the Search By text box, enter the character string (letters and numbers) to search for within the list.

    • The character string must include slashes, blanks, and parenthesis as displayed.

      • Example: 8/3/2012.

  • If a match is found, the first occurrence is highlighted in the list.

    • If no match is found, no record is highlighted.
